The accessibility of the websites

The public sector bodies shall to take the necessary measures to make their websites and mobile applications more accessible by making them perceivable, operable, understandable and robust.

The European Parliament and of The Council of The European Union have adopted Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of 26 October 2016 on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies.

European Commission adopted documents, related to the implementation of Directive (EU) 2016/2102:

1. Commission implementing decision (EU) 2018/1524 of 11 October 2018 establishing a monitoring methodology and the arrangements for reporting by Member States in accordance with Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies.

2. Commission implementing decision (EU) 2018/2048 of 20 December 2018 on the harmonised standart for websites and mobile applications drafted in support of Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council.

Working in this area, ISDC:

  • will monitor the compliance of websites and mobile applications with the accessibility requirements based on the monitoring methodology developed under the Directive (EU) 2016/2102 and will report to the European Commission.
  • will provide methodological aid, educate and disseminate information on requirements and their implementation to websites developers and mobile application developers.
